Sitting there, head in my hands
Heart broken into a thousand pieces
I remember the times that were
Longing for the past and wondering
How to survive the future.
Words of comfort mean little
Sounding more like insults than relief
Then, you sat down
And you reminded me that life goes on.
That its okay to feel the pain
And that time will heal.
The hole will remain, the absence
But you learn to cope.
But for now,
It’s okay to not be okay.
And so, as you hold my hand
I vow to wipe away the tears.
I will stand on my own two feet again.
But for now, I’m going to be not okay.
And lean on you for a little while.
